Portal Gun

Objective: Recreate the portal gun from the game Portal with working lights and sounds. Problem: How to integrate light and sound control into the handle. Solution: Arduino microcontroller responding to user input through buttons and switches. Built as the final project for my theater props and painting class — also something I'd wanted to make ever since I was little, so it was a rewarding build. The main body is plumbing pipes filled with bondo body filler. Electronics are controlled by an Arduino Nano with inputs from key switches, buttons, and potentiometers, all soldered to a perf board and powered by a portable phone charger. The shells are floral foam sanded down to shape.
