// Project Notes
Objective: Make resin chopsticks inspired by the mountains of Ha Long Bay.
Problem: Doesn't improve your chopstick skills.
Solution: Still won't fix your chopstick skills, but they'll look pretty while you struggle to pick up one noodle.
Made as a Christmas gift for my grandparents — Ha Long Bay was a landmark we visited together on a trip to Vietnam.
Process: carve into the back ends of wooden chopsticks, leaving a recessed area for a blue resin pour to make the ocean. Before pouring, the recess gets a base paint job — blue at the bottom, green on the mountains — to deepen the color through the resin. A tiny origami boat folded out of 5×5mm paper goes in for detail, plus a small water trail behind it. After the blue resin cures and is sanded flush to the chopstick profile, a final clear resin pour seals everything, sanded down again and finished with floor finish for a clear topcoat.
